In simple terms, pcclife is about one thing: Living the Love of Jesus Christ.
It is the purpose that drives us, our vision of being a church that is rooted in the knowledge and experience of the love of Jesus and is actively spreading that love out by sharing it with others.
History
It was this vision that prompted the Presbytery of the Greenbrier to organize a new church plant in the Hurricane / Culloden area in the early 1980’s. Our beautiful acreage was once the Western Hills golf course, and has been home to the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant since 1983. PCC was officially chartered as a church of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) on October 27, 1987.
Much of PCC’s pioneering spirit, energy and church waned during the 1990’s, but has gradually been recaptured over the last four to five years as we have embraced God’s vision for us to be a church that lives the love of Jesus Christ.
Build to Love
Our “Build to Love” capital campaign was successfully completed in the fall of 2007 in order to move us toward facilities that will enable our ministry efforts. Construction towards a new roof, a paved parking lot, an elevator, an extended narthex (our central gathering area), and upstairs bathrooms and offices will begin in the spring of 2008.
The greater vision for our ministries is to add a new multi-purpose room and kitchen. The overall building plans will have a tremendous impact on numerous ministries throughout PCC, including:
- Our ministry to youth & children
- Camp LivingStone mission workcamp
- Our fellowship gatherings
- Community Thanksgiving Dinner
- Our ministerial and administrative staff
- Our elderly and physically challenged
